How Do You Manifest Confidence?
How do you manifest confidence when you’re about to do something you’ve never done before?
Most of us can feel confident about a “repeat” performance – we did a thing well in the past, so we feel confident that we can do it well again today. Experience breeds confidence.
And that’s exactly the trap so many people fall into.
They believe confidence is only possible after the fact. It’s an “if – then” relationship: if they perform well, then they will be confident the next time they have to do that thing.
Or they allow others’ evaluation of their performance or results to define their success. “If I get a good review from that client…,” “If I do well on my appraisal…,” “If I get that shout-out at the next stand-up…”
If, if, if.
They don’t understand how to create confidence and fully bring it into a new experience or opportunity.
The highest performing and most successful leaders rely on their internal inspiration and motivation to manifest confidence. Their confidence comes much more from their mindset than their skills.
-
They see that work and life are full of opportunities to capture.
-
They are highly self-aware and surround themselves with people who share their expansive view of what’s possible.
-
They “check” their egos and do not tie their self-worth or value to outcomes or external validation.
For these top performers, their belief in their ability to create and succeed far exceeds and is more powerful than any outer evidence.
As Stuart Chase said, “For those who believe, no proof is necessary. For those who don’t believe, no proof is possible.”
